About Karanessa Spence

Karanessa was born in the magical month of October 1990 in the desert of New Mexico. Both sides of the family had many artistic talents, so it was no doubt she would inherent the ability. Her mother Karen, Navajo, is a hobby artist in all forms and father Otis, English and Irish heritage, comes from a long line of oil painters and carpenters. From the age of 4 she can still remember kindergarten coloring projects where she used her natural color and blending choices to wow the teacher. At the age of 6 her parents enrolled Karanessa along with her brothers into private after school art lessons in Sealy Texas. There in private art class Karanessa learned all the basic and advanced techniques for the next 8 years in many forms of art that helped turn her into the artist she is today. From charcoal, pencil, pastels, ceramics, oil painting, and to acrylics she learned it all. At the age of 10 she won her first Best of Show ribbon in the Austin County Fair and continued to enter her art in many other competitions after.

Currently Karanessa is a full-time mother, art teacher, and artist based in good ol Austin Texas. Latest shows and gallery events of 2016-2020 include Keeping the Culture Alive San Antonio Texas, Raw Austin Reveal Austin Texas, All White Celebrity Charity Fashion Show Houston Texas, Pancakes and Booze New Orleans Louisiana, Pancakes and Booze Austin Texas 2016-2018, Diva Day Houston Texas, The Prince Music Experience 2017 Houston Texas, Mobius Coffeehouse Brenham Texas 2016-2017, Art Realm Tattoo gallery exhibit 2017 Austin Texas, Circle of Soul Block Party Austin Texas 2017-2018, Studio Blend Gallery & Coffee Shop Sealy Texas 2018-2019, TRAP X ART Austin Texas 2019, and more.

ABOUT THE ART

"I want the viewer to feel the energy in my work.

I want my paintings to inspire others to pursue art, life

love, and their passions."

                                    Karanessa Spence

You can describe her art as Raw, almost Tribal, Mystical, and Modern. Karanessa's family is blended with many vibrant cultures and she loves to celebrate that in her work. Many of her paintings tell stories and hold meaningful symbolism left for the viewer to interpret. Others are fun and celebrate the beauty of the feminine body and spirit.
